United In Praise!

Join us on Sunday 24th May at 6pm for a joyful Pentecost celebration as churches from across our local Christian community gather in worship with music, praise, and celebration. Pentecost is a time of renewal and hope — come and be part of this special occasion. We would love to fill the church!

All welcome, with refreshments afterwards.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week runs from 10th–16th May, with this year’s focus on urban farming — helping communities secure reliable food, build sustainable incomes, and empower women. Fiona is running competitions: anagrams and “Where Was My Photo Taken?”, and the New Town Church will again host their Christian Aid Book Sale.

You can follow updates on our social media throughout the week, read more in the red edition of The Bridge, or visit the Christian Aid website for further information.

Music Hub

At the start of June, we welcome Anthony Toner on the 5th at 1pm with “heart filled songs”.

An Update from Alex

Just as our Bridge went to print (all 200 odd copies!) we got the following email from Alex, who has been recently ordained and inducted into his new role as a Minister of the Church of Scotland in Kinross:

“When I approached John Cowie to share with him my tentative sense of call to ministry within the Church of Scotland, he was less than surprised. My closely guarded secret was in fact obvious to him, indeed he confessed to using his power as my line manager to deliberately set me tasks that would help me to discover my call for myself. As such, I will always remember Stockbridge church as the community that nourished and protected that embryonic sense of direction that my life has now taken. It was with reluctance that I stepped down as your parish assistant to better manage the demands of my training.

However, I am happy to now be in touch with you to share the news of my ordination. On the evening of Thursday 19th March 2026, the gathered members of the Presbytery of Perth ordained me to the ministry of word and sacrament and inducted me to the charge of Kinross-shire Parish Church. It was a fantastically joyful and friendly evening, surrounded, as I was, by the people whom I had already been ministering to as their probationer for the last year and a half. It was great to see John Cowie sat in the pews to witness the event, although this time his comments centred around how grey my hair is now!

Kinross-shire is a team ministry, so I work alongside Alan Reid, the existing minister of Kinross church from before the union. My role is based within the congregations of Fossoway (Crook of Devon) and Orwell (Milnathort), with a focus on rural mission. It's early days, but my experiences of working as your Community & Outreach worker hopefully put me in good stead as I build connections to the local community.

You are ever in my prayers and I wish you every blessing,

Alex Johnson”

If you wish to contact Alex to pass on your well wishes, you can do so via email on ajohnson@churchofscotland.org.uk. If you cannot email, but would still like to pass on a message, Amber in the office is happy to scan in/send on messages.
